It's water resistant and able to wick moisture away quickly and efficiently. It will not absorb water like cotton. The base nylon microfiber material is coated with Nuva™ making it highly stain resistant. Nuva™ also has a component that prevents substances from bonding to the fibers. Then releases them during washing.
